One day, one of the elders came to Rabia and said, “Oh Rabia, why do you not raise your voice during worship in the congregation, unlike others, and show that you are deeply immersed in worship like them?” Rabia calmly replied, “When a lover speaks to their beloved, there is no need to shout. God is closer to my heart than anything else, and He hears my voice even before I express it.”
